Joseph Desrosiers passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 4, 2026, at Brandon Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care at the age of 88 years.
Joseph (Joe) Desrosiers was born on December 23, 1937, in Ste-Anne, Manitoba. At the age of 19, he moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba, where he worked at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting for 35 years. In December 1980, he married Cécile Blouin (née Simard), becoming not only a husband but a stepfather to five sons and one daughter. Together, Joe and Cécile welcomed their beautiful daughter Sarah, completing their family.
After his retirement, Joe, Cécile and Sarah moved to an acreage in St-Lazare, Manitoba where they built a life rooted in family, togetherness, and a home that was always open to others.
Joe was the ultimate hobbyist and had many over the years. He found joy in raising animals, making his own maple syrup, filming family events and preserving those special memories, and cheering on his favourite sports teams. He loved attending auctions, wood working, baking fresh bread, and had a knack for mixing a great drink.
Joe was not the loudest or most talkative man, but his quiet presence brought a steady sense of comfort to those around him. Joe lived with kindness, deep faith, and an unwavering work ethic, values he passed on to everyone who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents: Raoul et Gratia Desrosiers and his siblings: Denise Fortin, Henri Desrosiers, Simeon Desrosiers, Simone Wood, Lillian Crawford, Agnes Tomchuck, Agate Desrosiers.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Cécile; his daughters, Sarah and Gracia (Gordon); and his sons, Jean (Estelle), Roland (Mona), Damien (Teresa), André (Kelleen), and Robert (Jennifer). He will also be lovingly remembered by his 26 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren, large extended family and many friends.
A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., from St. Lazare Roman Catholic Church, 157 Selby Street, St. Lazare, MB.
The Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Lazare Roman Catholic Church with Father Joe Cabril officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Lazare Cemetery.
