WILLIAM A. MILLAN

It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Bill Millan after a courageous battle with dementia on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the age of 88 years.

Surviving him are his wife Marie and his three children, Gwen (Dwayne) Kaminski, Mary-Anne Peleshaty (David), and Willie Millan. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Lauren, Blair, Bradley, Amanda, Scott, Mikaela, Serena, Brianna and Kierra and his great-grandchildren, Kit, Kaelan, Jackson, Anna and Natalie. He is also survived by his sister Lynne Menard.

Dad worked at Manitoba Telephone System in the garage his entire career, starting on Empress Street and finishing on McGillivray Blvd when the garage moved. His favourite years were working in the northern region doing maintenance on the microwave locations and his helicopter rides to get to the sites. Retiring in 1992 he moved soon after to British Columbia and enjoyed volunteering for many years at the BC Farm Museum in Fort Langley restoring antique tractors. In 2018 he returned to Stonewall to be closer to family.

Dad loved the fall and the migration of the geese, so it was fitting he chose to leave this earth during the geese migration. His favourite things we remember him for are hunting, fishing, dessert, ice cream, mashed potatoes and gravy, dogs, little kids, watching TV, his recliner, coffee shop talk and tinkering on cars.

His family sends their heartfelt gratitude to the workers at Mary Thorarinson Estates in Arborg and the Arborg Personal Care Home for caring for him and his family during his dementia journey as they would their own family members. Your kindness and caring was genuine and Dad enjoyed his years in his home with you. Special thanks to Dr Zahim for his excellent care of dad over the years and Dr Ludwig and the staff at the Gimli Hospital for their kindness during Dad’s stay there.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

“So little snowbird, take me with you when you go, To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow.” Written by Gene MacLellan as sung by Anne Murray.
