It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Norma Kathleen Peloquin (Hodge), on April 15, 2026.
Norma was born on May 3, 1933 in Grenfell, Saskatchewan. She married the love of her life, Jean Louis, on December 26, 1955.
Norma was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jean Louis, in 2011 and her eldest son, Joel, in 2017. She was also predeceased by her parents: Clarence and Edith Hodge; her siblings: Ellen Ray, Pearl Worsnop, Laura Hill, Carol Wladyka, Aaron Greene (Eddie) and Larry Hodge; her in-laws: Albert and Emilienne Peloquin, Osborne Ray, Edward Hill, Ernest Stefiuk, Donald Jackman, Raymond Worsnop, Susan Bird, Leigh Greene, Jacques and Adele Peloquin, Sr. Cecile Peloquin, Sr. Albertine Peloquin, Sr. Annette Peloquin, Jean-Leon Ouimet, August and Juliette Peloquin, Paul and Helene Peloquin and Maurice Peloquin.
Norma is survived by her children: Jean-Pierre (Linda Smith), Andre (Angela), Denis, Raymond (Brenda Williams) and Monique (Joseph Wasowicz); her grandchildren: Graham (Jennifer), Marten (Alena) and Christopher; her sister Bernice Stefiuk and her brother Alvin Hodge; her in-laws: Larry Wladyka, Marie Ouimet, Claudette Peloquin, and Arlette and George Schamber; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Growing up, Mom had a love of horses and liked to ride on the family farm. Mom and Dad moved a lot as our dad was in the Air Force. They lived in North Bay, Ontario; Whitehorse, Yukon; Rivers, Manitoba and after leaving the Air Force they moved to St. Agathe, Winnipeg, Brandon and back to Winnipeg. After her children were grown, Mom enjoyed working at a thrift store on McGregor Street for many years until she retired. She enjoyed going to the casino with Dad to play bingo and slots and then with Arlette and George after Dad passed away.
Mom loved her garden, growing tomatoes, vegetables and an assortment of flowers every year. After Mom lost her sight, she grew fond of Siri on her iPad who kept her informed of the time and weather among other things and would play her Johnny Cash, Jimmie Rodgers and Elvis whenever she wanted. From 1978 to 1993, Norma spent most of her summers with her family at a cottage at Albert Beach where Mom enjoyed golfing, spending time at the beach, and family get-togethers.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care during Norma’s last few weeks.
As per our mother’s request, no formal service will be held. She has been cremated and the immediate family will have a small service to lay her at rest with our father at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
