In loving memory of a life well lived
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Michael LaRosa peacefully on April 12, 2026, at the age of 95.
Born Monday September 3, 1930, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mike was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend, and husband. But first and foremost, he was a dad. Dad touched the lives of so many with his profound sense of humour, warmth, curiosity, and his outgoing nature. Dad was a generous friend and possessed an uncanny ability to connect to just about anyone. He possessed a brilliant mind, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. Our dad walked through life with a strong character and an unwavering sense of right and wrong.
Dad was employed as a lineman for over 30 years with both Winnipeg and Manitoba Hydro. When dad was not working you could always find him cheering on and supporting his children at the local community centre. Dad was an avid curler in his younger days and enjoyed an occasional pint while discussing world events with his buddies at the German Club. Additionally, dad was a member in good standing with the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Royal Canadian Legion. In retirement, dad took up the sport of golf which he passionately enjoyed until his last days.
Dad was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Antonietta LaRosa; loving wife MaryAnne LaRosa; sons, Christian and Richard LaRosa; his loving daughter Christina Boen; along with brothers, Joseph LaRosa, Marshall Ross; and sister Marion Tesser. Dad is survived by his wife Lillian Buckler; son Martin LaRosa; daughter Catherine Litke (Glen); and son-in-law Randy Boen. Dad also leaves to mourn stepdaughter Kelly Wiens (Brian); stepson Tom Buckler (Kerrie); numerous grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; stepgrand and stepgreat-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
On Valentine's Day 2011 dad married Lillian Buckler in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they spent their retirement days travelling coast to coast throughout Canada along with various trips to the U.S. and Caribbean. They particularly enjoyed their time spent vacationing in Osoyoos, BC.
Cremation has taken place and upon dad’s request a private family service was held.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or the Siloam Mission in his honour.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Grace hospital for their compassionate care provided to our father in his final days.
