ISABELLE CHOQUETTE

Having made her peace with God, peacefully and with faith, courage and great dignity, Isabelle Choquette (nee Hutlet) aged 88 died at the St. Boniface Hospital on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She has been particularly blessed to have enjoyed the love filled support of her husband, Romeo, and her cherished children Gerald (Brenda), Denys (Johanne), Giselle (Warren) Luky and David (Erin); grandchildren Jared (Katrine), Amanda (Taylor), Tricia (Chris), Danyka (Corey), Colin, Megan (Brayden) Devan (Reanne); great-grandchildren, Mia, Emma, Olivia, Summer, Zoey, Easton, Noah and Rosalie.

Isabelle was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Jeanne Hutlet; siblings Marcel (Venise), Simone (Walter) Van Damme, Alice (Gerard) Van Damme, Lou, Edouard (Marjorie) and Robert (Gean). She is survived by her sister Irene (Alex) Grenier and sister-in-law Rita.

Isabelle was born on January 5, 1938, and was raised and educated in Bruxelles, MB. She attended Teacher's College in Winnipeg and taught at Campeau School during the 1957-58 school year. On July 26, 1958, she married her beloved Romeo, who has been her unwavering partner, walking with her every step of her earthly journey as she travelled to her promised heavenly home. Isabelle touched many lives with her strong desire to help others. Nothing brought her more joy than dancing with her husband and spending time with her family. A talented writer, she expressed her thoughts beautifully. She was the go to person for keeping up to date on family news in Canada and in Europe, and she authored 3 family genealogy books.

A private family service will be held to honor Isabelle's life.

Memorial Donations may be made in Isabelle's name to St. Boniface Street Links.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Residence Despins and St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Condolences to all the family. Many fond memories of spending time with Aunty Isabelle and family especially in my younger years. She always kept the family up to date on family history. Whether it would be bumping in to Aunty Isabelle and Uncle Romeo at Folklorama at the Belgium Club, emailing her for a recipe, emails for updates, she always had time for you and was happy to help. RIP Aunty Isabelle. Love Cyndi, Elliott and family - Posted by: Cyndi Hawthorne (Niece) on: Apr 30, 2026

  • Our sincerest sympathies - Isabelle & her husband Romeo have been our very special neighbours for almost 38 years. Isabelle was wonderful with children and was our nanny for almost 2 years. She so loved to have the small children visit. We also fondly remember them all ready to go dancing or teaching dance. She would frequently open her kitchen window or come out to chat with us, our children and grandchildren. We enjoyed the smiles on their faces when we brought special homemade treats or they shared the treats from the garden. - Posted by: Priscilla Vincent (Friend and neighbor) on: Apr 29, 2026
