ALBERTO AIELLO

1939 - 2026

Alberto passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and deep love for his family and community.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carmela, who remained by his side until the very end. He will be deeply missed by his son Mario (Silvia) and their daughters Jessika (Blake) and Katherina (Joseph), as well as his daughter Sina (Russ) and their daughter Olivia. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in each of them. He also leaves behind his brothers-in-law, Francesco and Pasquale; sisters-in-law, Annetta, Rosina, and Margherita; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Winnipeg, Italy, and Australia.

Born in San Mango D’Aquino, Italy in 1939, Alberto immigrated to Canada in 1962. After a brief time in Sault Ste. Marie, he and Carmela settled in Winnipeg, where they built a life together and raised their family.

Alberto devoted 41 years to Canadian Tool and Die, where he rose to the position of foreman. Known for his exceptional technical skill and work ethic, he was asked to continue on even after retirement, working two days a week until his health no longer allowed.

He was deeply connected to his community, particularly within Winnipeg’s Italian community. Alberto was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether assisting newcomers in finding work and housing or offering guidance drawn from his own experiences.

Alberto also took great pride in his home and neighbourhood. A passionate and self-taught gardener, he became known for his remarkable ability to cultivate and graft fruit trees. He would often travel across the city to help friends and family tend their gardens, and he delighted in walking visitors through his own - sharing apricots, pears, plums, and apples as symbols of his care and dedication. He was also an early advocate for community improvement, actively petitioning for better lighting, signage, and beautification in his neighbourhood.

He cherished time at the lake, especially along the shores of Lake Winnipeg, where he could often be found fishing alongside his brother-in-law Francesco and enjoying the company of family and friends. The Belair Properties lake community held a special place in his heart, and he played a meaningful role in shaping it through his care and commitment to bringing people together. In recognition of his lasting contributions, a park within the community was named in his honour - a tribute to the impact he had and the legacy he leaves behind. Many cherished memories were made there around the campfire, where Alberto’s beloved “Jugale” stories for the children became a family favourite and will be deeply missed.

Alberto was predeceased by his parents, Tommasina and Ernesto; his sisters-in-law, Francesca, Maria, and Rosaria; and his brothers-in-law, Guiseppe and Silvio.

He will be remembered for his strength, his quiet leadership, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative Care Manitoba or a charity of one’s choice.

In keeping with his wishes, a private family funeral will be held.
