It is with deep sadness that we share that Deanna “Dee” Rosemarie Catchpole passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, with her beloved husband Ted and dear friends by her side.
Deanna was born on August 17, 1945, to Dorothy and Helgi K. Tomasson. She was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, Joe; and her brothers, Christian “Chris” and Clifford. She is survived by her sister, Darlene. She also leaves behind her husband, Ted; stepchildren, Trevor and Laurie; and Laurie’s sons, William and Henry, who knew and loved her by the Icelandic term Amma. She was also a much-loved aunt, cousin, and friend.
Dee devoted her life to nursing and built a long and respected career in health care. She was admired by many nurses as a mentor, leader, and compassionate caregiver. She will be remembered for her kindness, courage, humour, generosity, and strength, and for the way she made people feel remembered and cared for.
Family and friends are invited to attend a come-and-go Celebration of Life in honour of Deanna on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Coutu Funeral Home, 680 Archibald Street in Winnipeg.

Deanna was my mentor at my first Head Nurse position at Misericordia and again a few years later at St.B. We became Program Managers together. She was always supportive but most of all fun. Her smile and her laugh were contagious! - Posted by: Beverly Burton-Guindon (Colleague/friend) on: Jun 27, 2026
