Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. HAROLD WARAM FLETCHER A celebration of the life of Harold Waram Fletcher will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels on Wednesday, September 22, at 1:00 p.m. Harold was born March 18, 1922 and died September 17, 1999. We celebrate his life as beloved husband to Elva, father to Carol, father-in-law to Jeff Cook, Granddad to Andrew and Stuart, and much loved uncle, cousin, neighbour and friend. Harold gave us a song in our hearts and laughter in our living. Born in Winnipeg, Harold graduated from Kelvin High, and the University of Manitoba. His formal education was interrupted by the War, when he served in the Royal Canadian Signal Corps as a Lieutenant. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in 1953. His postgraduate work included residencies in Internal Medicine at Westminister Hospital in London, ON., Winnipeg General Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital in London, England, and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal; he received his Fellowship, FRCP (Canadian) in 1963. Harold practiced medicine in Winnipeg as a partner in the Abbott Clinic and taught as Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba. Harold served many years as Medical Director of Central Park Lodge and a term as President of the Winnipeg Medical Society. He honoured his connection to the community serving as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps Reserves, volunteering as Schmoc Doc at Schmockey Night, and offering services to St. Johns Ambulance and the United Way. We celebrate Harolds firm conviction that life is a gift to be lived. At the piano we shared his gift of music. He had special songs for everyone and never hesitated to change the words to make us laugh. Harold knew how to make life fun: he had a sense of style and flair; he played an intense game of Bridge; he danced in the aisles of Rainbow Stage and skipped in the streets of Paris; he loved driving his convertibles with Carol and her friends; he sang to his Grandsons in restaurants and taught them to love movies. We will miss him greatly. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Lenore, and his siblings, Ernest, Cecil, Beth (Harry McLaughlin), and Patricia. He is survived by their families including sisters-in-law Abbie (in Burlington) and Mary (in Winnipeg). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation or the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
