ERNEST JAMES (JIM) TAPLIN The light has dimmed by the glow still shines. Jim (Tap) lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 2, 1999. Left to cherish his memory are his life partner Lola; son Ray and Margaret (Brett, Carla, Ryan, Alynne, and Trevor) daughter Linda (Michele, Nichole, William and Joseph) son Craig and Bev (Joel, Derek and Adam) nine great grandchildren; brother Larry and Gerrie; brothers-in-law Ken and Joan Gray, Merril Reimer and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a favourite sister-in-law Shirley Reimer. Jim was born on November 15, 1924 at the Misericordia Hospital. He attended Montcalm, John M. King and General Wolfe Schools. Upon graduation Jim gained employment with Bulman Bros. Printers. He was employed there for 47 years with a leave of absence during the War. Jim enlisted as an Able Seaman at Chippewa and served with the Royal Canadian Navy on both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. After his return from service Jim and Lola were married on May 14, 1947. They loved to travel and enjoyed many vacation hot spots. Jims pride was the cottage and his many friends at Grand Beach where his teasing and practical jokes will be remembered by young and old. The family would like to extend a Special Thanks to: the caregivers at St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit; and to Jim Duncan, and Jean and Bill Podolak for their continuous support. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made in Jims memory to the St. Boniface General Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2H 9Z9.
