Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN KATHLEEN SZYDLIK It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Szydlik who peacefully left us on February 14, 2000 at the age of 64 with her loving family be her side. Helen leaves to mourn, her devoted husband John and best friend of 42 years; two sons, Brian (Penny) and Jeff, as well as two grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer. She will be fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews; family and friends. She was predeceased by her father Paul; mother Kathleen and a brother Mike. Helen was Johns strength and his "everything". From the very moment they met they were inseparable. The two enjoyed spending their holidays together at the cabin they built out of love for each other and their family. Their relationship and the immense love they felt for one another is an inspiration to us all. Helen was born in Bissett, Manitoba on June 30, 1935 and lived there until she moved to Winnipeg at the age of fifteen. She taught Sunday school at Young United Church before graduating from the University of Winnipeg and was employed with The Bank of Montreal, Trans Canada Credit, and finally with the City of Winnipeg for 22 years until her retirement. Helen truly enjoyed her times fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and most of all spending time at the cabin in Little Grindstone. Her sense of humour and good nature made her a close friend to co-workers, neighbours and everyone whose life she touched. She always had a positive attitude that seemed to spread to those around her and when things went wrong, one of her favourite sayings was "forget it, tomorrow is another day." Technology did not stop Helen. She was the E-mail Queen of Winnipeg and had discovered that her good sense of humour had no boundaries with her regular transmissions over the Net. She will be greatly missed by not only immediate family but also by those she "adopted" over the years, Andre, Phout, Rochelle, Trevor, Sabrina, Eleonora, Michelina, Augie and Rusty. Sincere appreciation to the Health Sciences Centre Staff for their sincerity and care as well as the paramedics, fire department and the doctors who stood by her during her lengthy illness. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, 7:00 p.m. and a memorial service on Friday morning at 10:00, both to be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
