ERNST GUNTHER TIMM (TIMMY) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Husband, Father, Opa and Uncle on Saturday, February 19, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital. He was the dearly beloved husband of Maria Timm (Bidner) loving father of Birgit McCaughey (Timm) and Greg McCaughey and of Heidi Timm-Johnson and Perry Johnson; as well, loving Opa of Evan and Nicole McCaughey. Also in mourning is his brother-in-law Horst Theilen and his wife Violet; his nephew Hardy Theilen and wife Melinda Murray; his niece Andrea Lockhart and husband Ward. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Lottie Timm; nephews, Reiner, Kay and Birger and cousin Helga Timm, all of Germany. Gunther is also survived by many more relatives and friends throughout Germany and Canada. Gunther was born August 31, 1931 in Flensburg, Germany. At the age of 15, he started his barber apprenticeship to support his family, while his father was imprisoned in Russia. At the age of 25, he left Germany for a new life in Canada where, settling in Winnipeg, he would open Timms Barber Shop, to which he dedicated his life for over 40 years. Gunther was a devoted husband, father and had a very special bond with his grandchildren, Evan and Nicole. After his family, his main loyalty and passion was towards his business, where he was fondly referred to as "Timmy" by his friends and clients, many of whom remained friends throughout the entire 40 years. He was a special friend to many, many people who remember him for his kind, giving, gentle way and especially for his wonderful sense of humour. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital and the kind and compassionate doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital for their excellent care and attention. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and to the Diabetes Foundation. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, February 22, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc. at 984 Portage Ave. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., entrance on Aubrey Street. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Dont think of him as gone away His journeys just begun Life holds so many facets This earth is only one. Just think of him as resting From the sorrow and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days or years. Rest in peace, we love you forever NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
