WILLIAM ELMER THOMPSON Passed away at the age of 76 years, at his home on September 27, 2000. He was born in Rivers, Man. and moved to St. Vital where he spent his childhood years. He attended Glenwood School, and later married Betty Lillian Martin on October 6, 1945. Prior to enlisting, Bill worked for Canadian Airways. Bill served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as a Flying Officer Tail Gunner. He re-enlisted after the war and remained with the Armed Forces until 1966, when he retired. He then was employed by Bristol Aerospace as Plant Safety Officer until he retired in 1987. Bill was predeceased by his wife Betty Lillian Thompson (nee Martin) and brother Donald Amos Thompson. He will be sadly missed by his children, Shirley Arsenault of Prince Edward Island, Glen Thompson, Kathryn Thompson and Bill P. Thompson. He also leaves with his memory four grandchildren, Nichol Arsenault and Gail Louve, Kevin Thompson and Caley Thompson; his three great-grandchildren, Kara Arsenault, Calvin and Austin Louve; his nieces, Wendy Campbell, Pattus Haney and numerous nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Williams memory to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Service to terminate at the chapel.
