ART TIMKEW September 26, 1941- November 29, 2000 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of our husband and father, Art Timkew, on Wednesday, November 29, 2000, at his home at the age of 59 years, with his family by his side. Art is survived by his loving wife Pat and sons, Paul (Sabrina) and John (Wendy). He spent 31 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, both in Canada and overseas. In 1989 he retired from the military to make his home in Winnipeg. Art was employed by the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and Western Economic Diversification during the past ten years. He also served with the Reserve Forces until 1995. Art was a member of the Knights of Columbus and also the Charleswood Legion. He made many friends through the military and throughout his career. A Memorial Mass will be held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd., with Rev. Msgr. Stan Jaworski presiding, on Tuesday, December 5, at 10:30 a.m. Special thanks to Dr. David Breckman, nursing staff of both 5 North and 4 West at Grace Hospital, and particularly to his V.O.N., Chris, and the Home Care workers who made his last weeks comfortable and assisted the family in caring for Art. Thanks also to Tom Adamsson for the friendship and support he gave Art during his illness.
