KATERYNA SZUFLYN Peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at Seven Oaks Hospital, Kateryna Szuflyn, aged 91 of Winnipeg. Kateryna was born in the city of Nadwirna, W. Ukraine. She survived two World Wars and fulfilled her vision to cross the ocean for a better life in Canada. For this we admire her strength and tenacity. Kateryna was a very religious and spiritual lady. Upon her arrival in Winnipeg, Kateryna and her family became members of St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church. She later became a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and its U.C.W.L.C. She was also a benefactor of PLAST. Kateryna was an avid reader, gardener and cook. We will miss her kind and gentle manner and her positive outlook on life. Kateryna leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Tatiana Szuflyn of Rome, Italy and Luba Huk of Winnipeg; two granddaughters, Tania Drepko (Myron), Arusia Leskiw (Andrew) four great-grandchildren, Andrij, Kathryn, Alexa, Nicholas all of Winnipeg; one sister Evhenia and family in Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1992, parents and son-in-law Wolodymyr Huk. Panachyda will be sung 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 22 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, also at the Cathedral with Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family expresses their thanks to the Sisters and staff at Holy Family Nursing Home Day Program which Kateryna immensely enjoyed.
