MURRAY (MARIAN) SYNKARCZYN Surrounded by the love of his family, at the age of 86, Murray entered into his eternal rest, Friday, February 23, 2001 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, Man. Murray was born in Poland, on May 15, 1914 and with his family, came to Canada in 1929, settling in the Arnes area. As a young man, he was a commercial fisherman. He later met Nettie (Dola) and they were married in the Holy Ghost Church on May 15, 1942. He continued to fish and had a fox farm. In 1948, they moved to Winnipeg, where he was self-employed builder for many years. He worked for Arlington Builders, building many schools, Peter Leach Construction and lastly as a supervisor for Provincial Architect (Provincial Legislature), Department of Public Works. Murrays family and faith were dearest to his heart. He enjoyed travelling and being in the "Great Outdoors" - fishing, hunting, snowshoeing and snowmobiling at his cabin in Meleb, and lakeside cottage in Loni Beach. Murray leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter, Delores and husband Tony Michaluk Sr.; grandsons, Tony Jr. (Samantha), Mark and Kevin of Gimli; son-in-law Fred Zayik (Jennie) grandchildren, Sherry Zayik (Richard) great-grandchildren, Kathy and Johnny), Lorrie Kormilo (Chris), Freddie Zayik Jr. (Tammy) great-grandchildren, Hailey and Courtney; Murray Zayik, and also a dear friend and travelling companion, Josie Ferniuk. Surviving his are his sisters, Steffie Lewicki (Gimli Betel Home), Stella Smithers, B.C. and brothers, Edward Sinkarson (Anne), Winnipeg and Kardy Synkarczyn, Toronto, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nettie (1985), his dear daughter, Lorraine Zayik (1988), parents Antonina and Michael (1978), brothers, Louis and Danny. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, February 27, at 8:00 p.m. at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 28, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave., with Fr. Terance P. McGrath officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Winnipeg Beach. Friends who so desire may make donations to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or The Canadian Diabetes Association. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
