Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON CECIL THORNE On February 28, 2001, Gordon passed away peacefully at the age of 78 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Helen; his brother Les (Helen) Calgary; brothers-in-law, Sandy Cherrie (Betty) of Winnipeg Beach, Bunt McLean of Winnipeg; as well as nieces and nephews in Canada and Mexico. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Eileen. Gord was born on August 21, 1922 and raised in Elmwood. He was associated with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada, as a drummer, from a young age. He was mobilized on September 2, 1939 and served overseas in Britain and Europe from 1941 to 1945. He retained his membership as an associate with the Camerons. Gord was a member of the Masonic Order and concordant bodies. As a member of the Khartum Shriners, Gord was a dedicated member of the Pipes & Drums, for 36 years, and was made a life member of the Unit. He also was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 4. Cremation has taken place and there will be a Service of Remembrance at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of 3 East, Deer Lodge Centre, for the quality of care Gord received during his time there. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Deer Lodge Hospital Foundation, the Grace General Hospital or to a charity of choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
