VERA VIOLA THOMPSON On April 25, 2001 Vera Thompson (Schneider) completed the final chapter of her life at the age of 93. She passed away at the West Park Manor where she had lived for the past five years. Vera will be sadly missed by the surviving members of her family, Betty Shaw (Bill), Iris Winning (David), Dennis (Lorna), Jerry (Midge), Audrey Krutkevich (John) 12 grandchildren, David and Allan Shaw, Cindy and David (Connie) Winning, Tricia and Todd Thompson, Heather, Jeff, and James Thompson, and Jamie, Carolyn, and Darcy Krutkevich; two great-grandchildren, Rod and Karly Bremner; one sister Edna Schneider; one sister-in-law Ethel Schneider, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Louise Schneider; her husband Walter; three brothers, and five sisters. Vera was born on July 1, 1907 and grew up in the Edrans area. She married Walter Thompson in 1932 and moved to the Glenholm area where they lived for many years. She was always very active in the Glenholm WA, and instrumental in establishing the Memorial Garden at the site of the original Glenholm church. Mom will be remembered for her quick smile and her kind manner. She was a very creative and artistic person, and many of her paintings and beautiful quilts grace her childrens homes. Her love of sewing was a lifelong hobby, which culminated in the creation of over three thousand small clowns for children. She was a great gardener, a wonderful cook and a wonderful mother and grandmother, and we will miss her. We would like to thank the staff at the West Park Manor for their compassionate and good-humoured care, and their touching support for all of us through the last weeks. It was greatly appreciated. There will be a memorial service at Whites Funeral Chapel in Neepawa on Tuesday, May 1 at 2:00 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Arden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg R3C 0S6, or a charity of their choice. Rest in Peace
