Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE ARTHUR TAIT On Wednesday, June 20, 2001, after a long and full life, George Tait passed away peacefully while enjoying his nightly ritual of playing cards. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Nellie Tait, who had passed away on December 4, 1999. George cared for her throughout the last years of her illness with the determination and devotion that so defined his character. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Gerald (Joyce), Kenneth (Gloria), William (Lucy) his grandchildren, Barbara (Kerry), Bruce, Terry, Gordon (Sue), Cindy, Gareth and Kendra; his great-grandchildren, Carson, Matthew, Rana, and Justine; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Brandon on March 11, 1911, George began his life working hard on the farm. As a young man, he worked as a carpet layer, mechanic, and roofer. At the age of 30, he began his career with The Hudsons Bay Company where he spent the next 35 years of his life as a fireman, plumber and refrigeration technician until his retirement in 1976. George spent many happy retirement years travelling, gardening and enjoying life with his best friend Nellie. Lifetime hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, sports, gardening, cards and watching the Montreal Canadiens. George was a man of dignity, self-discipline, independence, and was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He looked after his house and yard until the day he passed away. Georges funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. at Belvidere Street. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Rev. Dr. Peter Denton and to Wojciks Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.
