FRED TATARYN It is with great sorrow that his family announces the sudden passing of Fred Tataryn at 66 years of age. He died peacefully at Falcon Lake, a place that he loved on August 19, 2001. Fred leaves to mourn his loving wife Irene; children, Joe (Sandy), Paul (Wendy), Linda (Dalton) grandchildren, Sara and Joshua, Jesse and Michael; brothers, Harry (Kay), Mike (Minnie), Nick (Doris) sister-in-law Mary; brother-in-laws, Emil (Nellie), Frank (Marie) numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Magda and brother Bill. Fred was born in Winnipeg and at an early age he moved to Argyle, MB on the family farm and later to Grosse Isle, MB. The family then moved to Winnipeg on Pacific Avenue where Dad attended Issac Newton High School. Freds passions were athletics and music. He excelled in football, baseball, and curling. He formed a band, played accordion and traveled the province playing at weddings and social functions. Fred and Irene (Graboweski) wed in 1958 and together they raised their children in Hodgson, Fisher Branch and later Winnipeg, MB. Freds entrepreneurial spirit led him to leave the CNR. He owned and operated the Royal Hotel in Hodgson, MB, the Royal George Hotel in Transcona and a sporting goods store in Winnipeg. He later returned to the CNR as a car man retiring in 1994. Fred had a strong personality. He was committed to all things; his family, friends, work and other interests. He was deeply involved in his childrens lives, coaching, instructing and supporting their athletic pursuits. He encouraged them to pursue opportunity and their educations. He was the master of getting things done. He was our working class hero. To our mother he was a good man and a good husband. Both he and Mom were blessed with many dear and close friends who enriched his life with precious memories. Dads retirement years were spent at Falcon Lake where the cottage was a great source of pride for him. It was here that he pursued some of his other joys in life - golfing with friends and his son Paul and teaching his daughter and wife how to play The beautiful game. He was also captain of the boat and loved taking Paul and Dalton spear fishing. Freds other passion in life were his grandchildren whom he loved to entertain at the cottage. Viewing will be held on Thursday, August 23, between 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. both at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 288 Donwood Dr. with Fr.
