MICHAEL DONALD SWISTUN Suddenly, on Friday, December 28, 2001 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Michael passed away at the age of 47. Michael is survived by his wife, Janice and his precious sons, Michael and Andrew. He will also be missed by his sister, Nancy Pilawski, brothers, Dennis (Donna), Lanny (Janet), mother-in-law, Minnie Chappel, sister-in-laws, Gloria (Alex) Byra, Lorraine Mushmanski all of Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his father, Mike in 1978 and his mother, Nellie in 1994. Michael was born in Winnipeg, MB on December 20, 1954 where he attended West Kildonan Collegiate. As a young man, Michael spent many hours honing his skills on the golf course and fishing which he continued to enjoy up until his passing. He was also a proud member of the The Royal Canadian Legion, West Kildonan Branch. Mike met Janice while working for the City of Winnipeg in 1990. They were instant soul mates and because of that love they married in 1991. The first of their two children, Michael, was born in 1995 with Andrew following in 1998. Mikes two boys were his pride and joy, and he spent many hours playing with his sons, helping with homework, reading to them and just being there when they needed him. Everyone around could sense the love he felt for the boys by only entering the room. He loved them more than life itself. Michael was also an avid animal lover and leaves behind his precious dogs, Casey and Zena, who will miss him dearly. Mike began working for the City of Winnipeg in 1980, mainly in the Parks and Recreation Department where he formed many cherished friendships with his co-workers. Most recently, he was working at the Boni-Vital Swimming Pool and was pursuing and upgrading his education by taking the 5th Class Power Engineering course. Mike never turned away someone in need, he was forever fixing things around the house or the homes of his extended family. Always a putterer, Mike was the one you always looked to if you needed a helping hand. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations can be made to a trust fund which has been established for Michael and Andrew at the CIBC, 888 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 3P3. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, at 11:30 a.m. also at Cropo Chapel with interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. Dear Mike, Our life together was never uneventful, but we made it through all the good and the bad. We always agreed, that as long as we had each other there was never going to be a mountain we couldnt climb. But now that youre gone and youve left the boys and me to carry on, the climb will be hard but well make it, and we will strive to live our lives in a way that would have made you proud. And if and when we feel we are getting weak, the love that we will carry for you in our hearts for the rest of our lives will be the key to keeping us strong. We love you, we miss you. Janice, Michael and Andy CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
