MARY EVELYN CAVELL McGREGOR (McMILLAN) Mary McGregor passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness surrounded by family on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at the age of 85 years at the Misericordia Health Centre. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her children, Bob (Kathy), daughter Gayle and granddaughters, Laurel-Ann, Tracy, Carrie, Colleen, Ashley, Kathryn and Melissa and "adopted" daughter Rhonda Fusee, sister-in-law Jo McMillan and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband James (Scotty) in 1965; step-brother Hugh; step-sister Flora; brothers, Dan, Gordon, Willie, Jack, George, Charlie; sisters, Effie, Blanche, Lona, and Vina. Mom was born in Carberry, MB and moved to Winnipeg following her marriage. Moms priorities were her children and granddaughters. She spent many hours with her granddaughters taking them downtown and playing cards and games with them. They always looked forward to a sleep over at grandmas. Moms love of children extended beyond her own grandchildren and from a young age she spent much time caring for her nieces and nephews and then in later years many of the children she babysat came to know her as grandma. Mom loved to have company and no one could leave a visit with her, without a cup of tea and a taste of home baked goodies. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Viewing for family and friends will be one half hour prior to the service. Interment will take place on Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Thank you Dr. R. Blouw for 25 years of compassionate care, Dr. H. Domke, and the staff of the Medical Rehab Unit at Victoria General Hospital, Dr. N. Lerner and the staff on Cedar Grove (C5S) at the Misericordia Health Centre for their excellent and compassionate care of Mom and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation, 501-840 Sherbrooke, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1S1, or the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2E8.
