Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MILDRED BERNTT (nee MROZ) Sadly on Sunday, March 3, 2002, Mary Berntt, aged 88 years, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was born in Allegra, MB on January 25, 1914 to Anastasia and Michael Mroz. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her only daughter Debbie and her two grandchildren, Matthew and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband August in 1961; brothers, Alex, Joseph, Casmir, Edward, Anton, John and her sister Stella. Mary began her teaching career in Ladywood, MB. She was loved by all of her students and they still visited her. She met August, was married and put her career on hold to become a homemaker and mother. After Augusts sudden death on December 24, 1961 she returned to teaching until she retired at age 65 from Winnipeg No. 1 School Division as an itinerant teacher. She soon started her new career, that of a doting grandmother. She loved to bake, play cribbage, and was an avid fan to almost every sport on television. She had a great sense of humour and was always up to date on the happenings of the world. CJOB has lost a listener. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 7, at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 8, at 12:30 p.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. with Fr. Henryk Uczniak officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Chrunyk, Michael Chrunyk, Jeff Penner, Frank Melizza, Marty Koshowski and Al Mainland. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. "This life for me is truly past, Ive loved you all to the very last, Weep for me, but courage take, And love one another for my sake."
