PETER SYROTA It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter Syrota on Thursday, March 7, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 89 years with his family at his side. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Olga (Repeshka) daughter Eugenia (Mike) Zushman; grandsons, Michael (Carolyn), Kenneth (Dora), special daughter Sandra (Dave), Mitchell (UK) sister Mary Horodyski; brother Maurice (Dorothy) sister-in-law Maureen (UK) nieces, nephews and close friend Lydia McKenzie. He was predeceased by his father William, mother Anna; brothers, Frank and Joseph; and brother-in-law Tony Horodyski. Peter was born on June 28, 1912 in St. Norbert and wed Olga on February 8, 1941. A man of many talents he was a market gardener, construction worker, working for the City and privately with his beloved Massey Ferguson and a violinist playing at weddings and 2nd violinist in a string orchestra. He loved children and animals and will be remembered by many for his bedtime stories and keen sense of humour. He was a member of FOE #3870. The family extends thanks to L. McKenzie, R. Kozar, first responders, paramedics, Victoria Hospital Emergency and 3rd floor nurses, Drs. D. Young, I. Maxwell, and R. Cronin. A celebration of Peters life will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
