JOHN GORDON TALLAS Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2002 at the Grace Hospital. John will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Hertha; sons, Dale (Barb) of Winnipeg and Gordon (Marie) of Los Angeles, CA; and by his grandchildren, Jenelle, Kristin, and Blake. John was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Stanley, and two brothers, Bill and Mickey. John was born in 1927 in Edmonton and moved to Winnipeg in 1964. At age of 50 with his eldest son Dale they started a business, Almont Industrial. They just celebrated their 25th year in business. He worked right up to May 3, 2002. John loved his Saturday shopping trips and going out for breakfast. He took great pleasure in buying some little treats to share with the family. He enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey and liked card games. In March this year, he spent two weeks with his son Gordon and daughter-in-law, Marie and their new son, Blake in Los Angeles. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospital and Health Science Centre for their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, friends so desire, donations may be made in Johns memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, R3C 0S6 or CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0V9.
