KATHERINE SWORYK (nee BACHEWICH) Our Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home, Sandy Lake, MB, at the age of 98 years. Mom was born on August 14, 1903 in Glenella, MB. She married Joseph Sworyk and resided in the rural area surrounding Sandy Lake, Rapid City and Minnedosa over her life time. She is survived by her family, Nick (Gayle), Houston, BC, Sophie Kozak, Alexander, MB, Philip, Rivers, MB, Walter, Brandon, MB, Anne Scheepbower, Langley, BC, Jean (Peter) Citulsky, Rivers, MB, Joe (Laverne), Brandon, MB, Marie (Peter) Petras, Minnedosa, MB, Mike (Connie), Winnipeg, MB and Phyllis, Brookdale, MB; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Sisters, Anne Zemliak of Brandon, MB, Teenie Easchuk, of Brandon, MB and Helen Kashton of Beausejour; and sister-in-law Rose Bachewich of Sandy Lake, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph; daughter-in-law Anne Sworyk; son-in-law George Kozak; four grandchildren and two sons in infancy. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 8:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Minnedosa, MB. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. also at the church with Rev. Fr. Yolando Gamallo officiating. Interment will follow at Minnedosa Cemetery.
