Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY FRASER THOMPSON July 1, 1917 - June 27, 2002 It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stan is survived by his wife Ruby of 55 years of marriage; his children, Pat Niesler (Bob), Barbara Flamand (Robert), Don Thompson (Maureen) and Marjorie Miller (Joe) seven grandchildren, Sean, Dolores (Conway), Troy (Michelle), Jodi (Richie), Tiffany (Chris), Jackie (Steve), Mike (Stacey) and nine great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his brother Gailen (Helen) sister Jacquie Marsden (Ken) sisters-in-law, Pat Morrison (Joe) and Dorothy Thompson; brother-in-law Jack Woods (Phillis) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Odell, Harold and George; and sisters, Evelyn and Lavonne. Stan was born in Quebec City and grew up in Toronto. Like so many of his generation, he served his country in the army during the Second World War. He married Ruby Woods in 1946 and settled in Winnipeg. He was employed by CN Railway as a painter from 1950 to 1982. Stan loved his Fort Rouge home where he resided for 53 years. He enjoyed many of his retirement years with family and friends at his cottage in Belair Properties and was an active member of the Rockwood A.N.A.F. Unit 303. In keeping with Stans wishes, cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Rockwood A.N.A.F. Unit 303, 341 Wilton St., Winnipeg, MB. If friends so desire, donations in Stans memory may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Goodman and the staff of the 5th floor at the Victoria General Hospital for their loving care and kindness.
