REGINALD RAYMOND SWIRSKY It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Reginald Raymond Swirsky on Friday, August 2, 2002 at the Carman Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Reg was born March 15, 1934 in Winnipeg to the late Emma and Walter Swirsky. Reg received his education at Lord Roberts School, Earl Grey School and Tec Voc School. Reg was employed with the Canadian National Railway for 36 years, taking early retirement in 1989. Regs greatest loves were his family, socializing with friends and the cottage that he once had at Lake Malachi. He had a passion for fishing and feeding the foxes at the lake, as well as watching and coaching hockey. We understand our father played a "mean" competitive game of shuffleboard and according to Reg "I never lost a game in my life". Reg also spent many good times at the Rockwood Legion where he was a member. Reg moved from Winnipeg to Carman, MB in 2000 wanting a peaceful county life and wanting to be near his grandsons. Reg was predeceased by his wife Doreen in 1996 his mother Emma Swirsky in 1969 his father Walter Benjamin Swirsky in 1974 and a son-in-law James Piasecki in 1979. Reg will be sadly missed by his daughter Colleen and husband Ian McKinnon and grandsons, Corey and Shawn of Carman, son Donnie and his girlfriend Lisa Stashko and her daughter Breanna of Lorette, and son Daryl and his girlfriend Shannon Thompson of Winnipeg. He also leaves behind his sister Eileen, and her husband Don Killeen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad will also be missed by his new cat "Minnie". A graveside service will be held from the Greenwood Cemetery in Carman on Wednesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Regs life will be held at the Rockwood Legion Branch No. 303, 341 Wilton, Winnipeg on Tuesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Carman Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Fund or to Manitoba Special Olympics, 200 Main St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4M2 in Regs memory. A special thank you to the most caring and compassionate nursing staff as well as to Dr. Dupret and Dr. Dreyer. Also thank you to Dads friends Lucy, Norm, Maureen, Joe, Marjorie and Ron and Mae for all their support and kind words. "God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference" Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements
