Donnie was born on July 26, 1951, at his family home in the R.M. of Clanwilliam, to Albert and Josephine Swiscoski, the youngest of eight children. Donnie began school in Empire and when the family moved south of Minnedosa in 1959 he went to Havelock and then on to Minnedosa. Donnie was married for a time to Debbie Cooper and had one daughter Jennifer. In the 1980s he went to live in Winnipeg. Over the years he tried his hand successfully at many different jobs, farming, drywalling, welding, carpentry and was always ready to try something new. He was a talented sketcher, carver and cook. He appreciated the outdoors, wildlife, hunting and camping. Donnie enjoyed football, hockey and singing. He sang in a band called Potent Ax in high school. Donnie was a friendly outgoing person who touched the lives of many people. He was a very loyal friend and was always ready to lend a hand. In the later years he spent considerable time in hospital and when he was well enough he did volunteer work in the hospitals. Donnie was predeceased by his parents, Albert in 1973 and Josephine in 1983. He leaves to mourn his brothers, Rod and Henry, his sisters, Beatrice, Dorothy, Mona, Ann and Shirley and their families and daughter Jennifer. Donnie will be sadly missed by his relatives, and his many friends in Minnedosa and Winnipeg. Interment was held in Polonia Cemetery on August 31 with memorial service following in the Polonia Hall. Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep I am a thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glint on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain When you awake in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight I am the soft star that shines at night Do not stand by my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die. Rest well my friend.
