Date of Passing: May 26, 2003
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) LOVELL THOMSON 1902 - 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister and aunt on May 26, 2003, at the Concordia Hospital. She shall be sadly missed and often remembered by her sisters, Pearl (Larry), Jean (Norm) and brother George (Hilda) her 10 nieces and nephews and her many great-nieces and nephews. Bets was born in Scotland and came over to Canada with her parents and sister at a very young age where they made their home in Transcona. She lived the rest of her life there except for a few years during the war, when she joined the Air Force. She worked for the Provincial Government in the Forestry Dept. until her retirement. She volunteered at the Childrens Hospital, helping to read and play with the sick children. She was also very generous with donations to many charities. Bets traveled extensively throughout her years, going to Great Britain, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and from coast to coast in Canada and the U.S.A. Bets had many hobbies - she loved to knit, travel, read, grow plants and shop. She was active in the Transcona Memorial United Church Womens Group and also sang in the church choir for many years. She felt very close to all her nieces and nephews, and she was very generous to them, as they were to her in return. There will be a celebration of Bettys life on Monday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W., with Reverends Carol Fletcher and Jeff Cook officiating. Burial to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Transcona United Church Memorial Fund. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
