Kay was born and grew up on a farm in Merridale, MB. She worked in Toronto during the war and then settled in Winnipeg with her husband. She lived on an acreage on Gateway Road for 25 years and then moved to Roche Avenue. Kay spent the last four years of her her life living with her daughter and her family in St. Vital. After her husbands death in 1955, Kay began working at Eatons Downtown from which she retired after 36 years service. She spent most of her time there working in the wool department where she made many friends with both customers and coworkers. After her retirement, Kay took part in the many activities organized by the Eatons Retirement Club. She enjoyed the bowling league, coffee parties and field trips. She particularly enjoyed her two trips to Hawaii with the Eatons Crew. Kay loved the outdoors. She was an avid gardener throughout her life. She also loved spending time with her family at the lake and going fishing. She got so excited catching "The Big One that got away". Kay loved to play bridge and do the daily Jumbles. She was an avid reader and loved to cook, bake, sew and knit for her family. We loved her so much, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. A memorial service for Kay will be held at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota, St. Vital, on December 22 at 7:00 p.m. Kay was a very generous person and supported many charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, she would want contributions made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Voyage Funeral Home and Crematorium, 220 Hespeler Ave., 668-3151.
