MAURICE (MYROSLAW) J. SYROTA Formerly of St. Norbert, MB, Maurice died at Victoria General Hospital on January 15, 2004. He was born on February 21, 1932 and was a life long resident of The Flood Area south of St. Norbert. Maurice is survived by his beloved partner and companion, Dorothy of thirty-four years; twin sons, Raymond (Karen) and daughter Kayla, Robert (Leslie) daughter Shelley (Tim) and children, Zachary, Samantha and Jessica, he is also survived by his sister Marie Horodyski; sister-in-law Olga Syrota; several nieces and nephews, cousins and Dorothys family, son Bill (Renee) daughter Linda (Leslie) grandchildren, Jamie, Colin, Crystal (Mike), Jason and Hannah Margaret. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie and Wasyl Syrota; brothers, Frank, Peter and Joseph. Maurice was president and general manager of Star Track Rebuilding Ltd. from June 1970 when it was incorporated until December 31, 1989. He was also the owner of Suburban Farm Sales Ltd., Crawler Tractor Parts Ltd. and American Bearing Ltd. Previous to owning his own businesses, he was employed by J. McCall Ltd. One of Maurices endeavors was purchasing a Hydro Camp at Missi Falls Northern Manitoba for resale and transporting it to Winnipeg under his personal supervision. Maurice enjoyed fishing up north with his family at Anama Bay, crossing the bay of Lake Winnipeg to the Mantago and Warpath Rivers. Maurice and Dorothy often traveled to Cross Lake by 5th wheel and boat to fish and enjoy the North Country. Maurice also had traveled to Rome and Venice Italy, London, England, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Reno, The Bahamas, Bermuda and other American cities. The family wishes to thank Doctors and Nurses of the third floor of the Victoria General Hospital for their care and nursing Maurice through his final days. We also wish to thank Denise and Darlene home care workers, and home care nurses who cared for him during his battle with cancer. According to Maurices wishes he was cremated and no memorial service to be held. There will be a graveside family service at Garry Memorial Park at a later date to inter the ashes.
