KATHERINE SYMINGTON (nee LOEWEN) Katherine Symington, (nee Loewen), aged 95, of Neche, North Dakota, passed away at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, N.D. on Saturday February 14, 2004. Katherine was born in Gretna, MB on September 18, 1908, the daughter of Peter H. and Katherina (Gerbrand) Loewen. She was the sole surviving granddaughter of her paternal grandparents, Heinrich and Sarah (Toews) Loewen, who immigrated to Canada in 1876 and settled in the Silberfeld district east of Gretna in 1878, and her maternal grandparents, Dietrich (Dirk) and Anna (Dyck) Gerbrand of the Lichtfeld district, Northwest of Gretna. Katherine was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Gynn in 1951 and her second husband, George Symington in 1957, both of Neche, North Dakota. She was predeceased by a sister, Anna (William Lutes) and six brothers, Heinrich, Diedrich (Margaretha), Peter (Elizabeth, Joey, Beth), John (Ada), Jacob (Sarah, Jean), and Klaas (Sophie) and three siblings in infancy, Anna, Elizabeth, and Edward; and one stepdaughter, DeReba (Lloyd Lembke). She is survived by one stepdaughter, Ramona (Herb Vosper). Also numerous nephews and nieces and a very large extended family. Evening Prayer Service at Cavalier Funeral Parlor on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m with assistance of the Order of Easter Star. Viewing visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral conducted by Pastor John Price in Neche United Methodist Church on Wednesday February 18, at 2:30 p.m with Rev. Henry Gerband and Rev. Gary Loewen assisting. Honorary pallbearers: Neche Senior Citizens Group and The Congregation. Interment to follow service at the Gretna Cemetery.
