MARY TANACK Mary Tanack of Burnaby, BC, born on May 2, 1922, in Hillcrest, Alberta, passed away May 12, 2004 at Burnaby Hospital after a short battle following an attack of pancreatitis. The last remaining daughter of John and Annie Kozlowski of Gimli, Manitoba, (deceased respectively in 1974 and 1984). Mary will be sadly and greatly missed by her loving family: husband Steve; sons John and Dennis; nephew Edward Morlock and his family; as well as other extended family members and friends. Everyone knew Mary as a warm and loving person fond of cooking special Ukrainian dishes, who would not let advancing years slow her down. Following a career as a bookkeeper with the McKees department stores and Herman family of Vancouver, Mary continued to enjoy extended driving trips and train travel to locations in Canada and USA as well as other activities and especially family times until her passing. Although a resident of Vancouver and Burnaby since 1957, Mary never forgot her important ties to Gimli and Winnipeg. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 18, at Hamilton-Harron Funeral Centre, 5390 Fraser Street (38th Avenue), Vancouver, BC at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Burnaby Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Legion, Branch 141, Winnipeg.
