LAWRENCE WALTER SYMONS SWINGLE Lawrence Walter Symons Swingle passed away at the Foothills Hospital on June 13, 2004 at the age of 82 years. "Grampa"f wilil be sadly missed by his children, Beryl and Bruce (Terry) and grandchildren, Greg, Jenna, Summerly, Dionne, Jeff, Chris, Hilary; and special frends Jim and Laura. Lawrence is also survived by Joyce (mom), sisters Beryl Cowan o Medicine Hat, AB and Gwenne Kington of Illinois and their families. He was predeceased by his son Harold, grandson Matthew and sister Wylo. Lawrence was born Octobern in 1931, where as a young man he spent a number of years involve t7, 1921h in Toronto, ON to Walter and Mildred Swingle. The family moved to Edmontod in Cris Church and the Boy Scout movement. Lawrence enjoyed skiing as well as tennis, proudly achieving Junior Tennis Champ of Edmonton. He entered the RCAF in August of 1940 with a grade eleven education, serving in the field of ground to air communication as Grampa was "too tall" to fit in the cockpits of the war planes. His service as Sergeant ended in October of 1945 at which time he entered Commerce at the University of Alberta and followed his fathers footsteps with a career in retail management until the mid 70s. In his later years, Grampa served with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. Dad enjoyed the outdoors and took great pride in the privilege of being a Grampa. He loved the time spent with his family always being there when wanted and needed. Funeral Services will be held at FOSTERS GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street N.W.,Calgary, AB (across from Queens Park Cemetery) on Friday, June 18, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice.
