OLAF ELDOR TAMRE Olaf Tamre, beloved husband of Nina, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at his residence at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with cancer. Olaf will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nina; son, Stan of Vancouver and daughter, Carmen of White Rock; granddaughters Kelly Aiello, Samantha Tamre and Anita Tamre; niece Melodie-Anne Tamre and nephew, Bill Tamre. He was predeceased by his parents, Ella and Eduard Tamre and brother, Arne Tamre. Olaf was born on May 28, 1926 in Viljandi, Estonia. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 to work at the San Antonio Mine in Bissett, Manitoba where he was joined by his wife Nina in 1951. In 1953 they moved to Winnipeg where soon after Olaf joined Winnipeg Transit as a bus driver until his retirement in 1987. During their retirement Olaf and Nina spent most of their time at their cottage at Wallace Lake. Winters were enjoyed in BC in the company of their children and grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Olafs life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2004 at Thomson "In the Park", Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the incredible support of Danny and Lynne Henderson and Dr. and Mrs. Angus McGowan, the passionate and caring support of Riverview Palliative Care group, Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Jeyakumar, Anne, Penny, Jackie and Lauren of the Victoria General Hospitals Oncology Department. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Olafs memory to Riverview Palliative Care, 1 Morley Rd.
