ALEXANDER BOX A life well lived. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex on Friday, December 10, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 96 years. Alex was predeceased by his wife Elsie in 1985; daughter Barbara in 1993; brothers, Art and James; sisters, Nora and Elizabeth. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Joan, son-in-law Les Helman; son-in-law Dennis Checkley; grandchildren, Jill, Holly, Tracy and Sean; five great-grandchildren; and by his last remaining sibling Dolly Gibb of Thunder Bay; also by his good friend Hughie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad lived most of his life in St. Vital. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors and took great pride in his garden. Dad worked at several jobs owning a grocery store, stoker and oil burner business and his last job was for the Department of Highways. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. He is to be interred in St. Vital Cemetery with Mom. Our family would like to thank all the care givers at Riverview 1-C for looking after him for three and a half years; his nurses, Mona, Crystal, Vicki and Rose for their loving care; his friends, Maureen, who cheered him up all the time and Mary Jane, who spent time with him. Also thank you to Ruth, Carmen and the other wonderful people who cared. Dad knew all their names, he was a gentle soul. Flowers are gratefully declined. In the summer plant a flower in memory of him, he would like that. THOMSON Funeral Home - 669 Broadway - 783-7211
