WILLIAM ROY THOMPSON August 2, 1952 - December 22, 2004 Suddenly, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William Roy Thompson, on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre. Roy is survived by his loving wife Carol; daughter Jackie (Jim); stepson Gord (Brenda); grandchildren, Andy, Vanessa, Devin and Dakota; his mother Marion; sisters, Judy (Jim) and Bonnie (Jack); in-laws, Joan and Gordon Ellis; as well as numerous nephews, relatives and friends, especially longtime friend Tony and golfing buddies, Jack and John. He was predeceased by his father Norman (Rusty) in 1981. Born on August 2, 1952 in Brandon, MB, Roy lived in Rivers, MB until he was eight years old, but lived most of his life in Winnipeg. We remember in our hearts Roy's love for his home, his family, his garden and his pets. Roy was a loyal employee of Bristol Aerospace for 27 years. I'm certain his presence and dry sense of humour will be missed by his brothers and sisters at Bristol, especially his special friends, Tony Samborski and Lorraine. A Celebration of Roy's life will be held on Wednesday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. at Mount Royal Road. Special thanks to Denise Appelmans (his little angel) who provided Roy with encouraging alternative health care that gave him the courage and faith to fight his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To the Thompson Family Deepest sympathy from your "old neighbors" the Jacobs Family - Posted by: Ken Jacobs (Friend) on: Dec 29, 2004

  • I first met Roy in 1988 at Bristol Aerospace. We worked together every day for about 8 yrs. Roy was a great guy and a pleasure to work with. A planned dinner with Roy a few months ago was cancelled at the last minute so I am sorry to say that its been some time since I spoke to him, but I will miss him nonetheless and my heart goes out to his family. May you rest in peace Roy - it was a pleasure to have known you. Thanks for all the laughs we shared. Until we meet again... - Posted by: Rob Lipps (Co-Worker) on: Dec 26, 2004
