DAWN ELLEN TAIT (PRESLEY) Peacefully, with her family by her side, Dawn Tait, aged 49, passed into eternal rest after a valiant fight with cancer. Dawn will be cherished forever by her loving husband Wayne; and her two beautiful daughters, Chelsey Dawn and Courtney April; her mother and stepfather Ellen and Ted Miles; two brothers, Terry (Gerrie) and Taryn Presley and Darrell (Darlene) Presley; father-in-law Gordon Tait; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Richard) Mehmel-Colin and Brian, Gloria (Don) Vander Graaf and Jeffrey. She is also survived by three stepsisters, Joan (Roger) Brown, Nancy (Randy) Warden, Karen (Russell) Chambers; three stepbrothers, Brian (Maria) Miles, Robert Miles and Grant (Carrie) Miles; special cousin Cathy Mackie; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dawn was predeceased by her father Ellsworth Presley; and her mother-in-law Joan Tait. Dawn was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Elmwood, graduating from Elmwood High School and attending the U of M. She was employed with the Manitoba Crop Insurance for two years, and seven years with Veteran Affairs. She left work to become a full-time mother in 1984. In recent years she returned to the work force as a seasonal worker with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. Dawn adored her daughters and kept them busy throughout younger years, enrolled in various cultural and sporting activities. She seldom missed any of their baseball or soccer games and was their strongest supporter. She was an avid sports fan and often made Wayne wait for his turn to read the sport pages. Her favourite teams were the Bombers, the Jets and the Jays. Dawn loved to travel before she started her family. Her favourite destination was always Hawaii, which she and Wayne revisited in 1999 for their 20th wedding anniversary. Dawn also loved vacationing and gathering with her family at Victoria Beach for two weeks each summer. The family would like to thank her oncologist, Dr. A. Maksymiuk and research nurse, Pat Gray, for their heroic effort in fighting Dawn's disease. We also would like to thank all the chemo treatment nurses, 3rd flr. CancerCare Manitoba at the Health Sciences Centre, especially Heidi, for their compassionate care of Dawn. You are all special people. In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation in Dawn's name to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of choice. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. He only Takes the Best God saw you getting tired, And a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come to Me. With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715

My dearest sympathy and thoughts are with you during this very sad time. I worked with your Mom in TPC at the Tax Center. She was a wonderful person and she will be missed. Sincerely, Jana - Posted by: Jana Stratford (Co-Worker) on: Dec 28, 2004
