ROBERT (BOBBY) MARVIN THOMPSON It is with deep sadness that the family and friends announce the passing of Bobby Thompson Jr. on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg. Bobby was born September 19, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert M. Thompson Sr. and Mozella (nee Graves) Thompson. Bobby attended Columbus West High School and Kansas State University where his passion for football lead him into recruitment by Ellis Rainesburger to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers where he was known as Big Cat to his teammates from 1979 to 1983. Bobby will be sadly missed by his daughter Rachel; his sister Frances and husband Edward Haynes and niece Lisa Haynes; nephew Edward Haynes Jr. and his wife Altaviz and their son Edward Kenneth and a very special Aunt Nancy Thompson. Bobby will be fondly remembered by his personal friends, team members, the staff at the Down's Motor Inn (Howard Johnson Express) and Assiniboia Downs Race Track. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Headingley United Church with Rev. George Davidson officiating. Bobby's ashes will be taken back to Ohio for interment with his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust c/o Paula at The Howard Johnson Express, 3740 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Bobby's family and friends would like to say thank you sincerely to the rescue team at the Grace Hospital and the Health Science Centre.
