Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER THOMSON Peacefully on February 13, 2005, at the age of 96 years at Meadowood Manor, Peter passed away with his son Brian and grandson Colin at his bedside. Peter was born in the Parish of Kirkinner in Southern Scotland on January 10, 1909. He was the youngest son and last surviving of 12 children. He immigrated to Canada in 1928. Dad worked on the trolley buses for the City of Winnipeg and later he owned and operated a grocery store with his wife Helen on Main Street. The family later moved to St. Vital where he worked as a school bus driver. Peter spent many of his later years traveling between Manitoba and British Columbia to spend time with his family. In summer he would spend time with his son Brian and his family and then would get away for the winter and spend time with his daughter Bev and granddaughter Jasmine in Vancouver. He also would spend time with his many nieces and nephews and their families who resided in the Chilliwack area. He was always well received in their homes and was always ready to sing an old Scottish song. Dad also enjoyed going to the horse races and placing a wee bet. The last six years of his life were spent here in Winnipeg at the Meadowood Manor - first as a tenant in the senior apartments where a helping hand was given by some special homecare workers and the last two and one-half years in the Personal Care side of the home where he was always well looked after by a wonderful, caring staff. He is survived by his daughter Beverley Beaudin (Russ) and granddaughter Jasmine; and his son Brian (Alice) and grandchildren, Colin Jeff and Vanessa; son Jack (Linda); and granddaughter Kelly (Hazel's daughter); and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Helen, in September 1972; son Allan; daughter Hazel; and grandson Kenneth. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff of Meadowood Manor who helped to make life as easy as possible for Dad in his last years. We would also like to thank Rev. Edward Hamm for all the spiritual care he provided to Dad over the last few years - you were always able to provide words of comfort for him. A private family service and burial have already been held. If friends should wish to, donations can be made to Meadowood Manor, 577 St. Anne's Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5B2, in Dad's memory.
