DOROTHY SYRAD Peacefully, at the Oakview Place Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, Dorothy Syrad, aged 91 passed away with her family at her side. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Mickey; her son Dennis and sister Mae. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl (Bob) Sime, Gail (Ken) Merritt, Sharon (Scott) Bradshaw and Darlene (Bill) Zdarski; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and her sister Kay. Dorothy was long time resident of Garfield Street and devoted her life to raising her family. She volunteered in the community of the west end for many years. Her love for bingo continued despite her sight impairment and she enjoyed a new found interest in bowling. Her job at Oakview folding bibs kept her feeling vibrant and involved. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the second floor, at Oakview Place that went that one step further to make sure Mom felt at home and appreciated. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers should friends desire, please make a donation in memory of Dorothy to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9 or CancerCare Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
