DAVID (BLAKE) TAYLOR Peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2005 Blake Taylor, of Winnipeg, passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 77 years. Blake was born to Marjorie and Dave Taylor of Poplar Point, MB on May 6, 1927. He spent his early years and received his education in Poplar Point. Blake began work at farms around the area of High Bluff and was also part of a ground crew at the Air Force Base No. 7AOS that is now Southport. He went from there to the mechanical trade at many different dealerships and garages in and around Manitoba until he made the move to the aviation field. He worked for Standard Aero in the Winnipeg shop as a rotary motor technician/mechanic until his retirement. Blake married Irene Smith in the spring of 1966 and they spent many years together until Irene's passing in 1999. His hobbies began with motorcycles. He did a little racing and also built his own hill climber bike which proved to win him many trophies. In the later part of life he built and flew radio controlled airplanes. He will be missed by his friends at the Senior Club, special friend Mary, many other friends and family. Blake is survived by special friend Mary Schmit; sister Coleen O'Halloran; brother Floyd Taylor; nieces, Jill Marchant (Tom) and Jane Taylor (Mark); nephews, Randy Taylor (Frankie), Andy Taylor (Tracey) and Bob Taylor (Pam). In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private burial at a later date. If one wishes, donations may be made in Blake's memory to the cancer care of your choice.
