RUBY MAY THOMPSON (nee WOODS) January 24, 1918 - April 14, 2005 Peacefully, at home, on Thursday, April 14, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, Mom left to join our Dad. Ruby is survived by her children, Pat Niesler (Bob), Barbara Flamand (Robert), Don Thompson (Maureen) and Marjorie Miller (boyfriend Joe); seven grandchildren, Sean, Dolores, Jodi (Richie), Troy (Michelle), Tiffany (Chris), Jackie (Sam) and Mike (Stacey); her precious seven great-grandchildren, Kryn, Madison, Abigail, Carter, Cole, Kamryn and Tyson; four step-great-grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jodi, Mike and Christian; sister Pat Morrison (Joe); brother Jack Woods (Phyllis); sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Thompson, Gailen (Helen) and Jacquie Marsden (Ken); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Stan on June 27, 2002. Mom loved her Fort Rouge home where she lived for over 56 years. She also loved her Harrow Church and especially her UCW Unit 7, with whom she just had a meeting/Ruby Red party on Monday, April 11, 2005, at her home, and she had a wonderful time. Mom also enjoyed her cards with her Earl Grey Seniors on Wednesday afternoons and her leisure club visits at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg on Saturdays. Mom and Dad enjoyed many summers with family at their cottage in Belair Properties. Ruby's funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Harrow United Church, 955 Mulvey Ave. with Rev. Teresa Moysey officiating. In keeping with Ruby's wishes, a private family interment will take place at a later date. Mom's last wish to stay at home was made possible by her daughters, Barb and Marj, who enjoyed the extra time they spent together. Our family would also like to thank Dr. Janice Mulder, Dr. Pat Harris, Grace Cancer Care, and the Home Care Staff for their special care. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ruby's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or the Hospice Palliative Care Manitoba, N119 - 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Our sincere sympathy in the loss of your Mom & Grandma. She was a wonderful lady, so kind, talented and gentle. I will treasure the special lunches we had at Christmas, the tea cup readings she did so well and her lovely smile. How wonderful she had a "Ruby Red" party before her final farewell! Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. - Posted by: June & Richard Gray (Friend) on: Apr 15, 2005
