STUART L. THOROGOOD July 19, 1938 - May 29, 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and friend, Stuart L. Thorogood on May 29, 2005. He was predeceased by his wife, Lynne Thorogood (McCartney) and father, Albert Thorogood. He is survived by his mother Lily Cook (Harold); his daughter, Marilyn Gutwein (Michael) of Abbottsford, BC and their children, Dan of Winnipeg and Mikayla of Abbottsford and his son, Lyle Thorogood (Joan) of Winnipeg. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters-in-law, Roberta Topping (Richard) and Ola Czeranko (Tony), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends and relatives, Bud and George Sigurdson. Growing up in Selkirk, MB, he was involved in many sports including a well respected hockey referee for many years. He worked for the Selkirk Rolling Mills for many years, in 1973 he and Lynne moved to a new career with the CNR and retired in 1994. In retirement, he drove a courtesy car for Frontier Toyota. Stuart loved his daily crossword puzzles, golfing with Ed Kiezik and friends and curling with his buddies as well as enjoying a visit after at The Spike in Transcona. The last year, he especially loved to drive his new buddy Nick to and from school. Stuart was loved by all who came in contact with him, he was a kind and generous man. Donations may be made in Stuart's memory to Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society. A celebration of Stuart's life will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB on Wednesday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
