Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD THOMPSON March 26, 1914 - August 11, 2005 It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Leonard Thompson, peacefully at his home at Bethesda Place, on August 11, 2005, with his family by his side at the age of 91. He leaves to mourn one son Melvin (Shirley) Thompson of Atikokan, ON; one daughter Joan (Ray) Schultz of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and one sister Ruthie (Don) Sisk of Freeland, WA. He was predeceased by his wife Ida in 1991, whom he lovingly cared for, for 13 years while she resided in the Personal Care Home. Leonard married Ida Krentz October 23, 1936. They made their first home in Elm Creek, then moved to the Steinbach area. Leonard worked for the R.M. of Hanover for 36 years operating the grader and snowplow. Leonard also enjoyed building in his workshop, making clocks and gardening. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, with Pastor Al Maier officiating. Viewing will be held Sunday, August 14, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Steinbach Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. The family wishes to express a very special and sincere thanks for the care he received from the nurses and doctors at the Bethesda Place. Now you may go dance with Grandma in Heaven like you have wanted to for almost 30 years. Go to a place where there is no pain and suffering.
