KATHERINE SZPYT (nee LENUIK) Peacefully, on August 20, 2005 with family at her side, Katherine departed from this world. Katherine was born on March 16, 1915. She grew up eight miles south of Rama, SK, in the area known as Kyziv or Bellendean. As an adult, she made her home in Winnipeg, MB and in her last few years she was a resident of the Betel Home in Selkirk, MB. Katherine leaves to mourn her passing her sisters, Michalena Stacy (Winnipeg, MB), Barbara Baldwin (Surrey, BC), Mable Repaye (Windsor, ON), Helen Kuz (Kamloops, BC), Adeline (Tony) Pasloski (Rama, SK); her brothers, George (Marie) Lenuik (Drayton Valley, AB), Jacob (Gloria) Lenuik (Moose Jaw, SK), Robert Lenuik (Windsor, ON), Alexander (Sharon) Lenuik (Burnaby, BC) and Johney (Joanne) Lenuik (Rama, SK); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Nicholas Tracz and Joseph Szpyt; her parents, Wasyl and Anne Lenuik; brothers, Michael, Daniel and Edward; sisters, Margaret, Doris, Mary and Dolly. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25 at Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave. with Rt. Rev. Protopresbyter O. Krawchenko officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. At this time we would like to thank the caregivers at the Betel Home in Selkirk for their professionalism over the years and at the time of Katherine's passing.
